Job Description for Dental Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. As an essential part of our practice, you will play a key role in creating a smooth and comfortable environment for our patients, ensuring high-quality care while supporting the dentist in both clinical and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care & Comfort: Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
2. Assist with Procedures: Set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures. Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is well-prepared for each procedure.
3. Instrument Sterilization & Safety: Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations.
4. Lab Tasks & Post-Operative Care: Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
5. Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
6. Scheduling & Office Support: Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions. Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well-stocked.
7. Regulated Tasks: Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
• Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required. Additional certifications such as EFDA or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization, infection control, dental procedures, and health regulations.
• Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing.
• Excellent communication skills and patient interaction abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional Certifications like EFDA, Radiology, or Dental Hygiene Assistant.
• Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
