Job Description Responsible for safe and efficient operation of a chemical production unit. Monitor plant operation, product yields, manufacturing costs, and operating activity, and feed information into month end closing. Track monthly inventory and raw material usage to complete and submit Month End Report. Provide technical assistance to operators and recommend improvements. Duties include troubleshooting process plant operating problems, product quality, equipment reliability, and safety data. Assist with incident investigations using root cause analysis and develop solutions to prevent recurrences. Analyze process information and develop recommendations for improving the process, participate in plant trials, and participate in process design & capital project implementation. Review project documents to ensure technical feasibility and ease of operation. Provide process knowledge to Maintenance or Project Engineering personnel to aid in the specification and/or maintenance of process equipment, instruments, and controls. Responsible for process and equipment changes and Management of Change process for the unit, specifically with creating MOCs and completing Design Safety Reviews. Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures. Assist with operator training when required. Spend time in the control room and the field to listen to the ideas of technicians and shift leaders to gather ideas for safety and production improvements. Develop project scopes for input into the Capital Project Group. Respond to plant emergencies. Keep unit manager informed of all operation issues. Revise PIDs for project scopes or changes from MOCs.
