Production Assistant reports to the Director of Tech-Ops. Perform a variety of studio, control room and remote production duties including operation of VMix production systems, audio mixers, robotic and handheld cameras. Job also involves preparation of on-air content including commercials, promos, PSA’s and syndicated programs. Assist digital producers with clipping news content for online streaming.
Responsibilities:
- Prep studio sets, microphones, lighting, monitors and computer tablets for newscasts and various live and prerecorded productions. Operate robotic and manually controlled studio cameras.
- Perform audio operation for newscasts, weather cut-ins, breaking news coverage, public affairs shows, sports and lifestyle programs.
- Assist studio and control room personnel on productions for station branding, promotion, billboards, program messages and public service announcements.
- Ingest and prep content for on-air playback. Monitor and perform video and audio quality control.
- Switch podcasts and online programs with VMix live video streaming systems. Clip news video and content for digital presentation.
- Perform periodic master control duties for live events featured on KTVB and KTFT 24/7 subchannels. Perform master control functions and content preparation responsibilities associated with Cyber and Disaster Recovery operations.
- Assist with cameras and audio on remote productions including parades, community events, pregame shows and sports telecasts.
- Need to be flexible in terms of scheduling. The position will require working varying shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Requirements:
- Experience with cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, routers, digital disk recorders, file-based delivery and transcode systems, satellite receivers and monitoring equipment.
- Must be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies including IT based video production and broadcast systems.
- Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Experience with production and on-air automation programs and FTP systems are a plus.
- Mobility and flexibility are essential, as well as the ability to lift heavy equipment.
