Project Engineer
to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for candidates eager to expand their client relationship and business development skills. Responsibilities
Develop design approaches and perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design for projects related to road, bridge, and trail infrastructure. Execute hydraulic and stormwater design tasks, including watershed modeling, floodplain analysis, bridge hydraulics, scour evaluations, pipe sizing, and permitting to develop solutions and address flooding issues. Prepare and review comprehensive design documentation, reports, calculations, plans, and specifications for INDOT projects and Indiana municipalities, ensuring accuracy and compliance under senior staff guidance. Work under the Engineer of Record, contributing significantly to hydraulic and stormwater design calculations. Utilize modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, TR-20, HY-8, ArcGIS, StormCAD, PondPack) to develop and verify engineering solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers and support entry-level staff, fostering a learning-focused environment. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, providing hydraulic and stormwater input for roadway, structural, environmental, and survey projects. Deliver excellent client service through technical expertise and responsive communication on hydraulic and stormwater issues. Assist in proposal development and support business growth by providing hydraulic and stormwater expertise. Stay updated on engineering practices, software, and regulations, applying this knowledge to projects. Provide technical support for projects across B&N offices as needed. Manage technical tasks effectively to meet project deadlines. Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license. 8+ years of experience in hydraulic and stormwater engineering. Proven success in project delivery with strong communication skills for technical discussions. Self-motivated, adaptable, and proficient with virtual collaboration tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with hydraulic/stormwater modeling software such as XPSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-20, ArcGIS, and HY-8 is preferred. Knowledge of INDOT, IDNR, FEMA, and Indiana drainage and permitting regulations. Ability to work remotely as required. Learn more about B&N's
