Job Summary:
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field and warehouse. You may travel to various job sites to make mechanical and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, air compressors, forklifts, and more. Applicants should have some experience with diesel-heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. You need to have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to travel to the job sites. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience working with various types of heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and repairs to discover functionality issues of construction equipment (aerial lifts, pumps, skid steers, compressors, etc.).
- Repair various types of construction equipment.
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and equipment history.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and environmental standards.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the manager.
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training program in heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
Experience, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
- Aptitude in using various hand tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment results.
- Must have a great attitude and willingness to “do what it takes.”
- Strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 60 lbs., climb on and off equipment.
- Work in various weather conditions; work environment for this position will be an indoor and outdoor setting.
Travel: Clean driving record required to travel to our job sites.
