Overview
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving in raw materials in the form of ingredients, packaging materials and products for production use. This role requires precise validating of incoming product, manufacturers, countries of origins, and COAs while ensuring HACCP approval of all incoming material.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Receiving: Verify incoming shipments of raw materials and packaging supplies, ensuring quality and quantity accuracy. Label all incoming materials using NetSuite.
- Sample Shipments: Prepare customer samples for shipment using UPS or FedEx online shipping tools per customer request.
- Data Entry & Reporting: Maintain inventory records in ERP or warehouse management systems, generating reports on inventory levels.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure inventory handling complies with food and beverage safety regulations (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP) and company policies.
- Physical Inventories: Assist with physical inventories of raw materials as needed.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: High school diploma required, with emphasis on mathematics.
- Experience: 2+ years in inventory management, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing/co-packing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory management systems (ERP/WMS), Microsoft Excel, and data entry.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate records.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including warehouse, production, and procurement.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in warehouse environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, FDA) is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize workload and accommodate shift in daily priorities based on the needs of the business.
- Ability to demonstrate a high sense of urgency and be proactive in addressing problems as they arise.
- Ability to calculate and understand basic math and simple formulas including but not limited to: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages, production rates and recirculation rates.
- Proficiency in basic computer data entry and document retrieval.

- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and climbing), perform repetitive motions for extended period of time (up to 2-3 hours) and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects; using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
- Ability to work in various conditions with exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust and fumes.
- Physical dexterity is required to measure, pipette and transfer samples into plates and tubes.
