The Impact You'll Have: As a Senior Environmental Specialist / Senior Environmental Engineer, you'll ensure transportation and land development projects are constructed in compliance with permitting requirements and environmental protection standards. Your experience will be utilized both in the field, collaborating with contractors and regulatory agencies, and in the office, guiding design and permitting for future projects. Responsibilities: Serve as the Contract Environmental Compliance Officer (CECO) for large transportation design-build projects, collaborating with contractors, public agencies, and regulators to mitigate environmental issues and ensure permit compliance. Lead or assist in writing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for construction projects. Lead erosion control inspections, ensuring compliance with environmental permits and working with contractors to prevent erosion issues. Provide guidance on restoration efforts for areas damaged by erosion or other environmental factors. Assist in securing permits such as NPDES, Watershed, DNR, USACE, and permits related to contaminated materials. Support wetland delineations and permitting in collaboration with Wetland Professionals. Assist engineering teams with design aspects related to turf establishment, erosion control, and stormwater best management practices, including developing design details and writing special provisions. Required Qualifications: BA or BS in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 7+ years of experience in road or land development projects, including design, construction, or permitting Strong knowledge of civil construction practices and environmental regulations, with the ability to interpret plans and specifications Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong communication skills (written and oral) Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer or Soil Scientist license in Minnesota Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and/or Storm Water Inspection (CPSWI) Certifications in Erosion Control and Stormwater Management from the University of Minnesota 10+ years of experience in road or land development projects Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions Lift up to 20 lbs Occasional weekend and evening work required Alliant offers a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, profit sharing, ESOP, 401k, health insurance, paid time off, flexible schedules, professional development, and more.
