1 Position Overview Reporting to and working closely with the CEO, the Senior Director of Resource Development will design and execute a comprehensive resource development strategy, including ongoing fundraising activities, planned giving, and major capital/other campaigns. The Director of Resource Development will also form and lead the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley’s resource development team. Essential Job Functions Leadership Design a comprehensive development strategy, identifying funds needed, targets, and tactics. Provide leadership and direction to the CEO and Board in executing all resource development activities effectively. Form, develop, and manage a team of resource development professionals of sufficient skill, talent, and number necessary to execute fundraising plans successfully. Actively mentor and otherwise support the professional development of all resource development team members. Oversee the resource development team, extending and sustaining values-based culture built on autonomy, mastery, and purpose throughout. Ensure efforts focus on promoting equity, engaging in trauma-informed and continuous improvement practices. Create or assist in the creation of cross-departmental teams to advance strategic priorities. Collaborate with internal teams and departments to align goals and strategies and foster a culture of cooperation and teamwork. Ensure continuous learning and improvement processes thrive in each area of responsibility. Use and lead others to use data ethically to make decisions in a timely and informed manner. that enhance the organization's profile, build its
reputation, support its priorities, and advance its mission. In partnership with the CEO, act as a liaison to the Board of Directors and your assigned committee(s). Strategic Planning, Execution & Agility In partnership with the CEO and the Board of Directors, contribute to the development of long-term, comprehensive strategic plans. Monitor and evaluate the progress of strategic initiatives, making necessary adjustments for successful execution. Demonstrate agility by adapting to changes in the internal and external environment and making timely decisions. Management Ensure operational goals align with and advance the organization's strategic priorities. Implement strategies to promote team development and performance. Strive to meet and surpass the expectations of all stakeholders. Support the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of special projects. Ensure spending stays within budgeted amounts and meet allowable cost requirements. Address issues and concerns in a professional, respectful manner. Ensure records are up-to-date, accurate, and organized. Coordinate, facilitate, and support the ongoing review of policies and procedures. Resource Development Develop and implement strategies for resource development efforts in partnership with the CEO and the Board that feature: Research and analysis of potential donors and their philanthropic interests. Preparation and presentation of proposals for support. Best practice donor stewardship activities. Multi-faceted tactics including planned giving and annual campaigns. Control Resource Development Department expenditures within budget. Provide direction and support to the organization’s marketing and communications staff. Motivate and support committees responsible for planning resource development activities. Train staff on enhancing fundraising efforts and overall financial health. Safety and Risk Management Ensure donor privacy and the protection of all personally identifiable information. Support the development of policies that mitigate safety risks. Human Resources, Supervision, and Talent Development Ensure effective performance of all Resource Development Department team members. Drive efforts to ensure the organization has qualified staff and effective leadership. Provide active supervision of all direct reports. Model a commitment to learning and development. Qualifications The Senior Director of Resource Development requires a majority combination of the following: Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or University Minimum of three years of successful resource development experience Supervisory skills Skills and Requirements Ability to nurture and maintain effective working relationships.
