The Hydrogen Isotope Science at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist to join our team of experts in Tritium Technology. The selected candidate will be an expert with proven track record in machine learning research and demonstrated ability to secure funding for scientific programs. The ideal candidate will be able to lead innovative projects, mentor junior scientists, and help advancing the machine learning scientific principles across various organizations.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to address complex scientific challenges within weapons programs. Identify, propose and secure funding from NNSA, DOE and Fusion Energy Sciences. Provide guidance to interdisciplinary teams in the design, implementation and deployment of machine learning solution to National Security and Fusion Energy scenarios Communicate complex technical results to difference audiences. Build partnerships and collaborations with universities and other national laboratories.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Extensive research experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence, evidenced by a strong publication record. Demonstrated success obtaining research funding. Experience in proposal writing Expertise in machine learning, reinforcement learning, large scale data analysis and advanced modeling Proven leadership skills, including project management Ability to present technical concepts to both, technical and non-technical audiences. Experience working in national laboratories or research institutions is highly desirable Familiarity with NNSA and DOE funding mechanisms is desirable. Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. PhD in Engineering related field (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, etc.) or Basic Science, Mathematics or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Ability to hold a Q security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is legally required.
