Sony R&D US Laboratory in California is seeking top talent to join our world-class R&D team. We are inventing technologies and products that impact lives globally. Sony aims to develop wireless communication technologies to provide immersive entertainment content worldwide.
Job Responsibilities
Support the team in advancing state-of-the-art wireless technology, including generating patents.
Participate in standard bodies and OSS communities to contribute technically.
Investigate new research areas aligned with Sony's vision.
Collaborate with global teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
Maintain honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct in all responsibilities.
Qualifications Candidates should have:
Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in electrical/communication engineering or computer science.
Strong background in wireless communication, including system or link-level aspects.
Experience with wireless LAN, cellular, sensor networks, distributed networking, or wireless PAN systems.
Knowledge of wireless LAN protocols; experience with IEEE 802.11 MAC/PHY layers preferred.
Experience with WLAN standards (802.11ac/ax/be/bn) or 3GPP preferred.
Experience in link/system level simulation (e.g., ns-3) preferred.
Cross-layer system design experience preferred.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, C/C++, Python.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to propose features, drive consensus, and document results.
Flexibility to work with global research teams.
Benefits and Compensation We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability plans, parental leave, 401(k), education assistance, flexible work arrangements, paid time off, bonuses, and employee discounts. The estimated annual salary range is $160,000 to $170,000, with a 10% bonus target. Actual offer depends on experience, skills, education, and location.
