About the Position
Under the direct supervision of the Township Supervisor, the IT Administrator plays a vital role in managing and maintaining the technology infrastructure for the Township, Fire, and Parks & Recreation Departments of Springfield Township. This position ensures seamless network operations, provides direct service support, maintains equipment, and coordinates with external service providers when necessary. Additionally, the IT Administrator serves as the Township Cable Coordinator, overseeing programming, scheduling, recording, editing, and overall management of Township meetings and the Cable channel.
Key responsibilities include administering computers and other system components to all departments, as well as adding users to the network, maintaining directories and keeping equipment updated. The IT Administrator will enhance network security, provide end-user support, manage Active Directory Infrastructure and Group Policy, and lead employee security training programs. The IT Administrator will also oversee system updates, support third-party system integrations, collaborate with department heads on IT solutions, and work closely with consultants to drive successful projects. This role offers a dynamic and engaging environment, requiring a proactive approach to security awareness, creation and documentation of IT processes, and the ability to adapt to evolving technological needs.
Required Education, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with at least two years of experience in Information Systems, Network Administration, or IT Security; OR Associate's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field with four years of relevant work experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to other essential software applications Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently Excellent communication and organizational skills Experience with website and content management system maintenance Experience with or ability to learn municipal operations and software related to computer network systems Ability to use cameras and sound equipment including ability to properly transfer and save information from one format to another insuring proper recording, editing and broadcast. Experience with cameras and sound equipment, including setup and operation Ability to adapt to diverse situations and collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals
Physical Demands
The position requires regular sitting, standing, and walking. It also requires, on an occasional basis, reaching, lifting, carrying, and/or pulling of items with a weight range of up to 50 pounds. If lifting or carrying an object in excess of 50 pounds, a team lift approach is required.
Compensation, Benefits and Structure
The IT Administrator position is part-time (20-25 hours per week) and is an hourly, non-exempt position. The starting hourly rate depends on the skills, abilities, experience, education, and training of the candidate.
