Required:Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Spanish and experience teaching or research in Spanish for the professions.
Teaching and research experience at the university level and administrative experience and committee work at the university level.
Primary Responsibilities:The Department of Languages and Literature at Sul Ross State University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor of Spanish for the professions. We seek candidates who will be inspired by the unique natural and cultural landscape of the Big Bend of Texas and can inspire students to expand the Spanish language acquisition to a professional field at a graduate level.The successful candidate will primarily work toward developing a graduate online certificate of Spanish for the professions that seeks to offer expansive interdisciplinary language skills toward a marketable credential. The successful candidate will work with the Spanish program to design the graduate online curriculum and teach courses in Spanish for Business, Health Sciences, Law Enforcement, Social Services, English to Spanish Translation, and the Culture of Spain and Latin America at the graduate levels. The faculty member will contribute to the community and university through service and maintain an active research agenda. The course load will be four courses per semester with course releases for curricular development. The position is a 5-year non-tenure-track appointment. Candidates must show a commitment to engaged, experiential teaching and learning, and excellent online teaching skills.
Position is security sensitive.
