Carlyle’s Global Research & Investment Strategy team is focused on economic and statistical analysis of the Carlyle portfolio, asset prices, and broader trends in the global economy. It provides proprietary economic insights to Carlyle leadership and deal teams allowing them to make more informed investment decisions. The team also helps to advance strategic and corporate development initiatives, support Carlyle investors, produce a monthly suite of economic indicators, and distribute additional commentary such as economic and market outlook papers. The 2-Year Analyst will complete a two-year term in the Global Research & Investment Strategy group. Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities Provide broad support to implement priorities of Carlyle’s Global Research & Investment Strategy team Research and prepare presentations for internal and external investor meetings and conferences Assist in preparation of the monthly economic indicators publication Analyze proprietary economic and financial data to develop 'house' views on the likely direction of asset prices and the global economy Research and analyze financial data and macroeconomic data Develop and compose written material related to industry and macroeconomic trends Collaborate across various global and domestic departments within the firm to lead and support special projects Thorough fact checking and research in a variety of areas, including institutional and corporate finance, macroeconomics, public and private markets, government’s fiscal and monetary policies and other general areas of business Secondary Responsibilities Work closely with key stakeholders, providing research and assistance with special projects Provide support to the firm’s Investor Relations function Develop presentations for meetings with existing and prospective investors Assist with the development and preparation of marketing materials for new funds Provide support to the firm’s corporate private equity, real estate, and credit investment committees Assist with development of content and themes for various Carlyle marketing materials Provide presentation support for Carlyle’s investor and leadership conferences Other reasonable duties as assigned Qualifications
Education & Certificates Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economic, Finance or Statistics required Undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher Professional Experience 1-2 years of experience in a finance-oriented research/writing role required; investment banking is preferred (can include internships) Experience using a statistical programming language (R, S-Plus, SAS, Matlab, Quantum, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail A creative, constructive, and resourceful collaborator a must Ability to work independently with minimal supervision with strong follow-through skills Ability to juggle multiple and changing priorities Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $105,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
