Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, attentive Summer Sports Camp Instructor to lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that the summer sports camp has to offer. The Summer Sports Camp Instructor will help plan events and lead group activities, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such as behavioral problems or accidents, log events and maintain records relating to activities, and discuss camper participation and concerns with parents and other Sports Summer Camp staff members. You should be positive, proactive, and caring while focusing on giving campers a fun, safe sports camp experience.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Sports Camp Instructor will give leadership, direction, and supervision to participants in Sports Camp Programs. You will create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing programmed activities.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities, lunch, and while on the bus/vans.
- Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences.
- Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child and show as much individual attention as possible to each child.
- Be familiar with and adhere to the program’s policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures and be ready to implement them if necessary.
- Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and participants.
- Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, and campers.
- Act as the primary responder for all accidents and incidents.
- Supervise all Sports Camp program areas including locker rooms and bathrooms.
- Assist the Sports Camp lead in completing routine and required forms, including attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports.
- Prepare snacks or meals as assigned.
- May be required to work hours outside of the normal work schedule for trainings, extended program hours, and staff meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 17.
- Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred.
- Knowledge of rules of a variety of sports and a willingness to learn other sport fundamentals as necessary is a plus.
- Must demonstrate courtesy and service to program participants and maintain a professional appearance.

Posted Salary Range
USD $14.81 - USD $16.20 /Hr.
