This position is part of the South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority and will be located at the Terrebonne Behavioral Health Clinic.
This position may be filled as an Unclassified Full Time/Part Time Position or Full Time or Part Time Contract Position.
Salary is based on qualifications.
All SCLHSA sites are NHSC (National Health Service Corps) approved. Qualifying physicians may be eligible for the loan repayment program.
No Civil Service test score is required to be considered for this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure to practice medicine in Louisiana
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
- Medicare/Medicaid billing eligibility
- Expertise in psychotropic drugs for wellness recovery
- Effective communication skills, both spoken and written
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Cultural proficiency supporting work with diverse backgrounds and orientations
- Team player with a welcoming attitude
- Commitment to the welfare of individuals with mental/behavioral health issues
- Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses and addictive disorders

Function of Work:
Provide medical/clinical services at the Terrebonne Behavioral Health Clinic.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide consultation and direct care for clients with mental health and addictive disorders
- Review diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment plans
- Prescribe and monitor medications, educate clients about medications
- Supervise medical services for psychiatric clients and refer non-psychiatric issues
- Manage patients within a multidisciplinary team
- Supervise treatment plans
- Complete medical records and documentation accurately and timely
- Provide crisis intervention and evaluation
- Handle psychiatric emergencies, including issuing Physician Emergency Certificates
- Coordinate with other clinical staff and community agencies
- Report concerns regarding service delivery improvements
- Contribute to team functioning and communicate issues effectively
- Meet utilization management and billable services expectations
- Use agency technology systems effectively
