Position Summary: The Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at NAIS will be responsible for developing, leading, and executing new initiatives for the organization. The VP of Strategic Initiatives travels regularly to represent NAIS and present to boards and other key stakeholders on strategic imperatives and trends for the industry.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee new major strategic initiatives at NAIS that align with NAIS’s mission and vision.
• Scan the landscape, talking to schools and monitoring research to identify trends to inform work on all major strategic initiatives.
• Develop a budget, in partnership with the CFO, that maintains NAIS’s existing agenda while supporting new initiatives.
• Track and analyze member responses to, and engagement in, new initiatives.
• Lead a project on succession planning in independent schools, ensuring all objectives and milestones are met.
• Collaborate across the organization to ensure alignment of work with new initiatives and cohesive execution of projects.
• Partner with internal teams to develop actionable resources and tools for independent schools in the areas of leadership and governance and school culture and climate, among others.
• Seek out, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships with external organizations to support and enhance all of NAIS’s initiatives.
• Represent NAIS at national and regional events and in presentations to school leaders and boards, providing thought leadership and support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree, with at least 5 years of senior administrative experience.
• Proven experience in project management, particularly in educational or nonprofit settings.
• Strong understanding of independent schools, challenges and opportunities in the educational landscape.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel extensively and represent NAIS at various events.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
• Commitment to NAIS’s mission and values.
