This position is based out of Villanova's NYC Advancement Office in the Chrysler Building. Reporting to the Director of Major Giving for the Tri-State Region, the Development Officer serves as a front-line fundraiser and member of the University's
Tri-State Region fundraising team based in New York City . Primary duties include establishing and managing effective relationships with varied donor prospects and existing donors.
The Development Officer, under the supervision of the Director of Major Giving, will identify and qualify potential major donors. The Development Officer is expected to conduct a minimum of 15-16 prospect visits per month and manage a portfolio of at least 150-175 prospects with a gift capacity of $10,000 to $99,999 (primarily $50,000+). The Development Officer is responsible for moving prospects through the complete giving cycle by designing and implementing strategies for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Development Officer must be able to represent Villanova University enthusiastically and accurately to a variety of constituents including key volunteers, alumni, parents and friends of the University.
In addition to the incumbent's role as a University-wide Development Officer, this position will assist the Director in enhancing the successful fundraising program in the Tri-State region within the context of Villanova University's overall fundraising efforts. The Development Officer will assist in the coordination of all formal stewardship activities for prospects in the Tri-State region, in conjunction with regional officers and the University's stewardship team. The incumbent will also support prospect engagement and involvement efforts related to cultivation and fundraising events in the Tri-State region. The incumbent will also coordinate some administrative activities for the Tri-State team. By identifying and qualifying prospective donors and cultivating relationships, the Development Officer will expand and strengthen Villanova's major gift pipeline in the Tri-State region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and manage a portfolio of 150-175 prospects. Establish and manage effective relationships with portfolio prospects and donors; conduct 15-16 prospect visits monthly and assume stewardship responsibilities for assigned prospects. Plan and implement prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies using work and stewardship plans; identify and evaluate potential donors from available research, peer screenings, and event participation. Support prospect engagement and involvement efforts for University-wide events and programs taking place in the Tri-State region. Be a point of contact for constituents in the Tri-State region to engage in the life of the University; encourage participation in activities and evaluate potential for development involvement. Oversee prospect stewardship contacts and activities for all New York prospects and donors together with the University stewardship team and other Advancement colleagues. Provide administrative support for Tri-State based advancement efforts. Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. The incumbent is required to have a minimum of two to three years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with exposure to frontline fundraising/client services preferred. Demonstrated understanding of individual fundraising required, preferably in the field of higher education and/or within the Tri-State philanthropic community. Commitment to the principles behind higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University and champion its mission expected. Understanding of the University culture and ability to work within a multi-layered management system required. Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills required. Must be well organized and detail oriented. The incumbent must be comfortable working in a team oriented environment, as well as a disciplined self-starter who is results-oriented. Knowledge of general office equipment, including use of laptop computers, required.

Regular travel to the Philadelphia-area expected. Occasional evening and weekend work and travel required.
