– Connect with like-minded professionals and community leaders. What You’ll Do: Help steer our strategic plan and ensure we’re fulfilling our mission. Oversee financial management (yes, budgets can be exciting!). Support fundraising and resource development—every dollar makes a difference. Ensure legal and ethical integrity (we like to play by the rules!). Advocate for VAL and spread the word about our programs. What We’re Looking For: Passion for education and equity (no PhD required—just heart!). Willingness to collaborate, strategize, and problem-solve. Experience in leadership, finance, fundraising, or nonprofit work is a plus. Ability to commit to board and committee meetings (typically 1-2 hours every other month).
