The Executive Director of Mount Vernon Ventures reports directly to the CEO and collaborates closely with leadership to develop and deploy a robust portfolio of consulting engagements, and innovative educational products. While the Executive Director manages all operational and strategic functions of Mount Vernon Ventures, they partner with the Schools’ Chief Learning Officer & Chief Innovation Officer who split their time between Mount Vernon Ventures and The Mount Vernon School to develop and deploy innovative educational products and services. This role also involves partnering with the Brand Team, teachers and leaders within The Mount Vernon School to identify and assign internal consultants to work with external clients. The Role
We are seeking a dynamic Executive Director with a strong background in business development and sales, particularly within the educational consulting sector. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker and possess a deep understanding of educational innovation with demonstrated experience in building consulting relationships and strategic partnerships. This individual will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and expanding Mount Vernon Ventures' impact in the education industry. Vision for Success As a leader in educational innovation, Mount Vernon launched Mount Vernon Ventures over 10 years ago to create an R&D Hub, share our innovation, and provide a non-tuition revenue stream. Now, Ventures has established partnerships with schools around the world, developed courses, R&D reports, and consulted with dozens of schools on a wide range of topics from curriculum to brand identity and strategic transformation. As we seek to build sustainable and regenerative systems, the Executive Director of Mount Vernon Ventures will be responsible for building relationships and services that generate revenue and allow Mount Vernon to reinvest in staff, programs, and resources that help to advance the mission and strategic vision of the organization. Responsibilities
Build and maintain a robust client pipeline, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth Nurture and expand existing client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business Oversee communications strategies, including the production of regular newsletters and podcasts, to engage stakeholders and promote Mount Vernon Ventures' offerings Create an internal infrastructure for sustaining a pipeline of engagements based on forecasted annual revenue targets Represent Mount Vernon Ventures at conferences and networking events to enhance brand visibility and establish strategic connections Collaborate with on-staff coaches and teachers to build internal consulting capacity, leveraging their expertise to benefit clients Identify and deploy internal consultants to work with clients, ensuring the effective dissemination of the school's transformative practices Manage the development and launch of new services that align with market needs and organizational goals Generate revenue through strategic projects and sales initiatives, contributing to the financial sustainability of The Mount Vernon Organization Core Competencies
An entrepreneurial mindset that can manage both day-to-day operations, sales, and strategic projects Ability to build relationships of trust with key stakeholders and potential clients A systems thinker who can ensure quality and integrity across business units Ability to coach and develop internal talent for consulting projects Experience aligning resources and processes with organizational priorities through budget management Scaling capacity to meet and exceed revenue targets Proficiency in Google Suite & Mac/Apple OS Requirements
