The Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accounting Manager to lead our cost accounting function within a dynamic food manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for developing robust costing models, analyzing key financial metrics, and ensuring accurate cost allocation across various business silos. The ideal candidate will provide actionable insights to drive profitability, improve financial visibility, and support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities Develop and maintain a comprehensive costing model for a high-mix manufacturing environment with complex commodity pricing structures. Analyze and manage production costs, including labor, overhead, yield, shrinkage, and variances by product, customer, and production run. Split financial statements into distinct business silos to assess profitability and performance beyond consolidated financials. Monitor, investigate, and explain KPI variances, conducting in-depth cost and margin analysis at the product, customer, and production line levels. Assess product cost discrepancies between initial quotations and actual production costs, identifying key cost variances. Perform inventory reconciliation, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Lead efforts to improve financial visibility by developing reports and dashboards that highlight key cost drivers and trends. Work closely with operations, finance, and leadership teams to provide data-driven recommendations for cost optimization. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting roles, with a strong focus on manufacturing cost accounting. Strong proficiency in financial systems, including QuickBooks, advanced Excel, and data analysis tools. Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial modeling. Skills & Competencies:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including operations and production. High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Attributes:
