Title: Certified Nurse Assistant - $21-$26 per hr.
Location: The Department of Behavioral Health, St. Elizabeth's
1905 E ST.SE Washington DC 20003
Shifts Options: 3pm-11:30pm or 11pm-7:30am
Days: Monday - Friday
Duration: ASAP - September 30, 2026 (plus option years)
Hourly Rate: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour = (health/dental/life insurance coverage, paid federal holidays, accrued vacation options)
COVID News: While onsite, all personnel onsite will adhere to CDC guidelines to include social distancing, wear a face covering, washing hands, etc.
Credentialing Requirements
DC CNA License 2 Professional References TB Test within 12mos BLS card Recent Flu shot Urinalysis (10 panel) Cleared Background Check, including fingerprinting including FBI check Prior experience in behavioral health/psych Proof of Flu and COVID vaccinations BACKGROUND
The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) provides services and supports to eligible adults, children and their families for the prevention, intervention and treatment of mental health, along with substance use disorders. DBH operates critical Behavioral Health Programs which includes Saint Elizabeth's Hospital (SEH) which is a 292 bed Adult in Patient Acute Care Mental Health Hospital, located at 1100 Alabama Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20032. DBH also operates a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) a Twenty-Four Hour/Seven Days a Week facility located on the old DC General Campus located at 1905 E Street SE, Building #14, and Washington, DC 20003; DBH also operates The Assessment Referral Center (ARC) 73 P Street, NE Washington, DC 20002; and Urgent Care Clinic 35 K Street, NE Washington DC 20002.
REQUIREMENTS Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) Educational and Competency Skill Requirements:
The CNA shall:
Possess a current DC Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA);
Possess a current Basic Care Life Support (BCLS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation card with valid expiration date; Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate with proof of completion of a basic Nursing assistant course consistent with the District of Columbia's certification requirements or completion of a state examination including clinical requirements. Possess knowledge and skill in taking Patients' vital signs, temperature, pulse and respiration and possess knowledge and skill in providing complete up-to-date report of health status as needed on assigned Patients.
Consistently utilize the principles of the recovery model when engaging Patients.
Report behavior and changes in the medical condition of Patients;
Complete all assignments on shift assignment sheet accurately and properly document them during the Tour of Duty. Work with assigned Patients on appropriate Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and room maintenance. Complete all required nursing documentation according to policy. Participate in orientation and attend other Mandatory In-service Training Programs as assigned by DBH.
Be able to adequately navigate the DBH computerized Medical Record System.
Report any damaged or malfunctioning Medical Equipment promptly to responsible DBH Supervisory Staff.
Assist with tidying Medical Clinic and Consumer treatment areas to maintain a clean and healthy environment. Perform a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties to assist in day to day operations with doctors and nurses
