Job Summary:

The Investment Portfolio Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial aspects of an organization's investment portfolio. This role involves ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of investments, compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting strategic investment decisions. The Investment Portfolio Accounting Manager collaborates closely with portfolio managers, financial analysts, and other accounting professionals to maintain the integrity of investment financial records.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

Investment Accounting:

  • Record and reconcile investment transactions, including purchases, sales, income, and expenses.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date investment ledgers and journals.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes related to investment accounts.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present regular investment reports to management, including performance analysis and variance explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare financial statements and disclosures related to investments.

Portfolio Management Support:

  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to provide accurate and timely investment data.
  • Monitor and report on investment performance, risks, and compliance with investment policies.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support investment decision-making.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings related to investments.
  • Stay current with changes in regulations and accounting standards affecting investment accounting.

Audit and Internal Controls:

  • Support internal and external audits related to investment accounting.
  • Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard investment assets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of investment accounting.

Other Duties:

  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Provide training and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CFA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and investment management systems, ideally in Geneva.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
