Job Summary:
This position will support the ASK screening team in the implementation of this large-scale community screening program by recruiting and screening pediatric study participants from local clinics, hospitals, the BDC, and screening sites.Primary responsibilities will include conducting all aspects of data collection according to a standardized protocol from those agreeing to participate including administering informed consent, collecting demographic information, and collecting blood samples by venipuncture and capillary draws.Responsibilities will also include assisting the study team with practice engagement and education activities, tailoring screening protocol to specific settings.

Clinicians, clinical researchers, and basic biomedical scientists collaborate at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes. Founded by Marvin and Barbara Davis in 1978, it is currently one of the largest diabetes institutes in the world. The Center provides state of the art care to over 7,500 children and adults with diabetes as well as provides inpatient care to patients seen at Children's Hospital Colorado.
The Autoimmunity Screening for Kids (ASK) Program is a jointly funded research project from Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)) and the Helmsley Charitable Trust (HCT) to continue a large-scale screening in children and adults over the next three years who live in the United States. The study aims to identify those at risk for two childhood autoimmune diseases--type 1 diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease (CD) and to follow up with an education and monitoring intervention with the goal of preventing acute and long-term complications associated with diagnosis.In addition, the study has launched a community awareness campaign to engage and recruit the public for participation.A primary study objective is to develop, beta-test, and revise a multi-prong screening approach tailored to pediatric practices, Colorado Children's Hospital Network of Care, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and to expand nationally by supporting hospitals and private clinics with launching screening initiatives. The goal is to have screened 50,000 children by the end of the next three-year grant period.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any field
Fluent in Spanish reading, writing and speaking.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science or health related field
Experience in research or recruiting participants for research studies preferred
Pediatric phlebotomy experience or willingness to complete competency within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

$47,743 - $60,729.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
