The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes Adult Clinic has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor position. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 2,500 adults with type 1 diabetes or insulin requiring type 2 diabetes. This position requires enthusiasm for medical research and knowledge or interest in type 1 diabetes. A combination of previous clinical and research experience, diverse talents, and excellent interpersonal skills is required.The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Over 200 employees, including clinicians, clinical researchers, basic biomedical scientists, and supporting staff work at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and/or cure for type 1 diabetes. This tenure-eligible position offers an exceptional opportunity for a talented clinician and researcher.Supervision Received:

This position reports to the Director, BDC Division of Adult Diabetes.Supervision Provided:

None.Key Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Provide in-person or tele-health diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established adult patients with type 1 diabetes.Conduct phone consultations with patients and other physicians in the community.Educate patients in diabetes management.Determine appropriate options in resolving complicated inquiries and/or issues.Work with EPIC (Electronic Computer Charting).Participate in research protocols related to type 1 diabetes.Maintain and contribute to the high standards of an existing diabetes program.The position will be located at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes on the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.Working Conditions

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire:M.D. licensed to practice in the United States.Preferred Qualifications:

American Board of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology & Metabolism certification.One-Year Diabetes fellowship from a recognized University in the USA.Clinical experience in caring for adults with diabetes and expertise in clinical research.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The salary range for this position has been established at:

$170,000 - $190,000

plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical FTE.The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
