Entry level duties involved in the collecting, documenting, and preserving of evidence at a crime scene; and related work as required.Shift, weekend, and holiday work is required.High School graduation or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education.Valid Driver's License.EITHER :

One (1) year of experience as a Laboratory Technician I or Laboratory Technician II with the New Orleans Police Department in the Scientific Investigation Division.OR :

One (1) year of full-time experience in crime scene investigation.OR :

Sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university with at least twelve (12) credit hours in Criminal Justice, Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science, or a closely related scientific field.

Official transcripts must be presented to the New Orleans Civil Service Department within two (2) weeks of application.This position requires a one-year probationary period.A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes, however credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for related experience gained within the last ten (10) years.Note :
