The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic Director of Transfusion Medicine. The laboratory provides approximately 55,000 blood products annually to the University of Wisconsin Medical Center with support for comprehensive programs in cancer, transplantation, and trauma. The successful applicant will be expected to staff the blood bank and apheresis services for 2-4 months per year, oversee QA/QC activities, contribute actively to the teaching of residents, transfusion fellows, and medical students, mentor trainees, and participate in continuing medical education programs. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.Responsibilities:Serve as the director of transfusion medicine.Work with UW Health operational leadership to maintain a high quality of laboratory practice and patient care.Organize faculty clinical coverage and update clinical practice standard operating procedures.Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.Institutional Statement on Diversity:
