UTILITY SENIOR SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR (FACILITIES MAINTENANCE) (CLASS CODE 3038)

Plans, organizes and directs through subordinate supervisors, the work of a large staff of employees (100-150) engaged in operating and maintaining the facilities and plant equipment of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans.

The position has full technical responsibility for unusually complex operational programs. The incumbent has oversight responsibilities for plant maintenance, electrical maintenance and mechanical maintenance. The position inspects structures to assess need for repair and inspects repairs for quality and adherence to specifications; responds to citizen complaints and problems; researches and implements new maintenance and management programs and methodologies; and prepares typical daily, monthly, and annual reports.

Work also includes coordinating with relevant local, state and federal agencies and private resources as necessary for implementation of programs and repairs; developing and tracking budget; procuring (or approving procurement) of machinery and materials as needed; and related work as required.

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or related field.ANDPermanent or probationary status with the Sewerage & Water Board as a Utility Senior Services Manager or higher and four (4) years of experience in that or higher level classification with the Sewerage & Water Board's Facilities Maintenance Department.OR:Six (6) years of exempt senior level professional experience in the areas of electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, power plant maintenance, and high voltage transmission systems maintenance. At least two (2) years of this experience must have included supervisory responsibilities for a major division within a company.Note:

Additional experience in the areas of electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, power plant maintenance, and high voltage transmission system maintenance may substitute for the Bachelor's Degree at the rate of one (1) year of related experience equals one year of college credits. Supervisory experience may not be substituted.

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.

WORKING TEST PERIOD: Effective August 1, 2023, the working test (probationary) period for all positions in the classified service is one year.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE TESTING: The City of New Orleans has a comprehensive program of substance abuse testing. Candidates for employment for certain positions where the health, welfare and/or safety of the public, co-workers and the individual employee is at risk will have to undergo pre-employment substance abuse screening.
