The Assistant Director for Student Transitions & Persistence in the Academic Skills Center (ASC) collaborates closely with all ASC team members in creating and realizing the vision of the Center. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for overseeing the Learning at Dartmouth program, an academic program offered each fall term with ongoing support sessions throughout the academic year. This program is designed for first-year and incoming transfer students and includes learning strategies workshops, values and goal-setting exercises, and campus resource-navigation sessions. The Assistant Director partners with Student Affairs colleagues outside of the ASC and a variety of academic partners. Additionally, the Assistant Director conducts individual academic coaching focused on supporting first-year and transfer students and facilitates learning enhancement services and programming for Dartmouth College’s undergraduate student community.Required Qualifications - Education and Experience:Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Two years of professional experience in a higher education setting: teaching, advising, evaluating and/or counseling students; working with programs or services that support student transitions.Knowledge of enrichment/learning strategies to support students with academic difficulties.Strong understanding of student development theory.Commitment to diversity and serving the needs of a diverse community.Demonstrated organizational, time management, problem solving, project management, presentation, and team-building skills.Excellent interpersonal, group leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.Tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive or confidential matters.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in academic advising, counseling, education, student affairs, or a related field.Experience managing a term- or semester-long “College 101” or “Introduction to College Learning” related program.Formal training in academic coaching with completion of accredited coaching courses.Responsibilities:Manage the Learning at Dartmouth Program, including teaching course sessions and supervising student facilitators.Revise program syllabus and offerings consistent with best practices in higher education.Create and deliver program sessions focusing on learning strategies and navigating campus resources.Assess the Learning at Dartmouth Program and use data to inform future offerings.Provide academic coaching and workshops for a diverse student population.Communicate with faculty, students, and staff to enhance student learning and collaborate on support programming.Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate student interns.Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness.Perform other duties as assigned.Equal Opportunity Employer:
