Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager III. The Newark Chancellor’s Budget and Finance department provides business operations support to multiple departments and direct business support to the Office of the Newark Chancellor.Responsibilities

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:Review and approve business transactions including requisitions, expense reports, general ledger adjustments, and payroll commitment accounting instructions.Establish positive relationships with administrative staff, ensuring adherence to university policy.Provide training to new staff on department-specific GL and project codes.Perform monthly reconciliations of department payroll distribution and transaction reports.Analyze reports and assist departments with the interpretation of financial data.Ensure department adherence to budget.Responsible for projects related to implementation of Newark-wide processes such as annual department budget preparation and financial reporting.Exercise good judgment and tact in resolving issues.Maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.Position Status

DayMinimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Minimum of five years of related professional experience in a finance or accounting function, preferably in a leadership or managerial role.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.Demonstrated analytical skills for interpreting budgetary and financial information.Strong writing skills sufficient to draft professional reports and correspondence.Expert in the use of pivot tables and advanced spreadsheet tasks.Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive matters.Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, and Marketplace Procurement systems.Advanced Excel skills proficiency.Special Conditions
