UC Santa Cruz Main CampusJOB DUTIES80% - Construction MaintenancePerform the following duties as needed under direct supervision:Minor remodeling and construction of walls, windows, floors, ceilings, and roofs.Assistance to the carpenter in removing existing structures.Rough and finishing work for new construction.Basic mathematical computations.Hanging of both metal and wood doors.Minor forming and pouring of concrete.Assistance with preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.10% - Maintenance & RepairsPerform the following duties as needed under direct supervision:Maintenance and repair of campus structures.Assistance to Lock Shop with minor duties.Assistance to Sign Shop with sign installation and maintenance.Assistance to Paint Shop with graffiti removal.10% - Shop WorkPerform millwork using power saws and other shop equipment.Inspect and make necessary repairs to the shop's interior hardware, tools, and equipment.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAbility to read, write, follow oral and written instructions.Ability to demonstrate creativity and initiative.Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with members of the campus community.Ability to document daily work performed.Knowledge of the use and safety procedures of various types of hand and power tools.Basic knowledge and experience in general construction techniques.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBasic computer skills.Ability to learn Enterprise Asset Management System Software.SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.Ability to move materials which may weigh up to 100 lbs.Ability to occasionally work overtime with little or no advance notice.SAFETY STATEMENTAll UCSC employees must understand and follow job safety procedures.EEO/AAThe University of California is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
