Assistant Director Recreation Operations

Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Recreation Operations in Student Life.The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and oversight of the open recreation, membership services, recreational facility operations and maintenance, and day-to-day operations of Kiewit Fitness Center. This role includes training and mentoring over 60 student staff working as operations attendants, building supervisors, office assistants, and program managers. The Assistant Director will develop positive relationships with Housing and Auxiliary Services, Public Safety, Facilities, and equipment vendors to ensure that facility access, safety, and needs are met.Key ResponsibilitiesHire, train, supervise, and manage Open Recreation and Membership Services program and student staff (60+).Liase with Housing and Auxiliary Services, Public Safety, Athletics, and other University offices to ensure recreational spaces, equipment, and operational needs are met.Coordinate emergency training programs to help prepare department staff for various emergency and non-emergency situations.Provide logistical support for University, Divisional, and Departmental events that occur in recreation facilities; events include University Welcome, Academic Ceremonies, and Summer Camp Operations.Uphold Creighton’s core values and demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment, while adhering to all University Ethical Standards of Conduct, rules, regulations, and job requirements, including required educational trainings.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.2 years of related experience.CPR, First Aid, AED certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first 60 days of employment).CPR, First Aid, AED instructor certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment).Experience with NIRSA preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of facility operations and special events.Committed to developing students within the Catholic, Jesuit context.How to ApplyApplicants are encouraged to apply with a cover letter and up-to-date resume attached to the online application.
