Packaging Lead
to join its growing team. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Some of its best-known beers include flagships Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen. This fast-growing company is the first production brewery in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and the largest brewery in South Florida and is positioned for rapid expansion over the next few years.ResponsibilitiesManagement and leadership of packaging teamSuccessful operation of all equipment used for packaging at Funky Buddha to meet production forecasts and demandFoster a collaborative environment while setting clear priorities and managing time effectively in response to company demandsConfigure and calibrate machinery to ensure efficient and accurate operation, minimizing lossDiagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtimeDevelop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Preserve and enhance Funky Buddha’s quality standards, including seem checks, carbonation, dissolved oxygen, fill heights, etc.Overseen and assist with Clean-in-Place (CIP) on all filling equipment using automated and manual systemsManage and prioritize projects, preventative maintenance, and daily equipment upkeepMaintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and company guidelinesMaintain accurate records of production runs, maintenance activities, and repairsPrepare reports on team and equipment performance, downtime, and any issues encountered during productionWork with supporting functions such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, and Brewing to resolve production-related issuesIdentify and implement cost-improvement opportunities through material suppliers, manufacturing, and packaging partnersOversee, supervise and/or perform training for new Packaging AssociatesOrdering packaging materials and monitoring, recording and maintaining packaging materials inventoryMust always be a champion for following the rules and policies of the brewery, and must encourage this to others, both by example and vigilanceOther duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious leadership role in high-speed manufacturing business, directly responsible for packaging line performance to include production, quality and safetyStrong people management skills and leadership experience with a proven track record of helping elevate a teamTechnical knowledge and understanding of high-speed packaging equipment with strong mechanical aptitude; understanding of plumbing, electrical and other relevant trade skillsFlexibility with schedule as demand may from time-to-time dictate additional or different hoursThe ability to work independently as well as with others, with proven experience in delivery against critical KPIsUnderstanding of ERP systems, ability to process data in themSolid financial aptitude and experience managing a budget.Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power PointA strong passion for beer and beer qualityPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawlHeavy physical work including climbing stairs, climbing into tanks, pulling hoses, lifting heavy equipment, etc.Willing to work in wet, hot and cold conditionsWilling to work in consistently loud environmentsAbility to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicalsAbility to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 poundsIntegrity, loyalty and a good sense of humor are all factors in who we hire.Funky Buddha Brewery is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
