Position Focus:The Yale Center for Research Computing (YCRC) advances research at Yale by administering a state-of-the-art cyber-infrastructure, providing sustainable research services, and facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to the development and application of advanced computing and data processing technology throughout the research community.

Essential Duties

Oversees the execution and implementation of detailed project plans in concert with stakeholders.

Manages several routine projects simultaneously and ensures that the design, testing, training, documentation and prioritization objectives are met.

Assists in refining and re-sequencing during the implementation and execution phases of assigned projects, as needed.

Works closely with business analysts, technical professionals, end users and project stakeholders during the requirements, solutions design and implementation phases to develop detailed project plans for implementation.

Works on risk assessment, communication planning, development of performance metrics, and project entry criteria.

Creates detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project completion.

Manages client expectations and provides issue/risk identification and escalation pathways.

May supervise the implementation team of cross-functional project and technical resources.

Designs, develops, and executes communication systems to ensure effective exchange of information between project stakeholders, senior management, and staff.

Resolves complex project issues that involve representatives from multiple organizations.

Complies with standard policies and procedures.

May supervise and train junior project managers.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in a related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills/Abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, having great attention to detail and ability to adapt quickly.

Strong oral and written communication skills with interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, faculty and other professionals.

Ability to analyze issues, respond and solve problems following through to ensure successful completion of projects.

Proven ability to work within a team, requiring a high level of cooperation within the work group.

Experience identifying and analyzing supplier capabilities and use of appropriate metrics for decision making.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Proven track record in successfully delivering AI/ML projects. Experience working with/on government sponsored grants or contracts. Ability to ensure compliance with university, federal and sponsor guidelines and regulations. Experience managing projects related to data center infrastructure such as power, cooling, and networking.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:Project Management Professional Certification is strongly preferred.
