Position Focus:This position will be responsible for independently managing several areas within global health research and training programs of the Ko Group in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at the Yale School of Public Health. The program manager’s primary role is to support research across the Ko Group and to coordinate NIH and China Medical Board-supported global health research training programs for postdoctoral fellows and doctoral students working at 17 international sites.

Essential Duties

Coordinate a NIH-supported multi-center global health research training program, including recruiting fellows, implementing fellowships, establishing subcontracts and budget plans at international sites, and preparing progress reports.

Manage multi-site research, including preparing and delivering reports and action plans for team members, assessing project performance, and acting as the main liaison with collaborators.

Develop original IRB submissions and maintain active IRB approvals.

Coordinate and support established grants, including setting up and managing subcontracts, developing budget plans, and monitoring budgeted program expenditures.

Support the administrative infrastructure of the program, managing human resource and administrative functions, and providing logistical support to students and trainees.

Required Education and ExperienceMinimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Required Skills/Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills; self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.

Thorough understanding of project/program management methods; proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams.

Well-organized with the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.

Demonstrated experience with grants management and grant coordination, especially for international projects.

Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and related software.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Master's degree in public health; understanding of academic and NIH grant systems; fluency in statistical software; knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish is useful.
