Our municipal services market is growing, and we are looking for a team member to enhance our ability to provide disability access plan review to new and existing clients.
Successful candidates for this position should be experienced in the review of accessibility for new construction and planned alteration to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and local ordinances. This position will be responsible for the review of construction and permit documents and may be asked to be available to perform construction site inspection and post-occupancy inspection to evaluate compliance with approved documents and accessibility requirements.
Candidates should be detail and process oriented and able to find creative solutions to challenging problems. The ability to interact in a professional manner with municipal agencies, design professionals, and permit applicants will be a critical responsibility of this position.
This person will engage with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely plan review and work quality. Plans will be reviewed to establish compliance with the California Building Standards Codes, local municipal codes and ordinances, provide coordination of plan review staff, and coordinate with clients. Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Manage, plan, and conduct accessibility plan review services Ensure plan review services are timely and completed in accordance with established procedures Communicate as needed with clients, project stakeholders, property owners, developers, and designers to explain requirements, policies, and procedures and to mediate/resolve conflicts and respond to questions Respond to inquiries and concerns from engineers, architects, contractors, and clients regarding permit, plan review, inspection, or other accessibility issues Interpret codes, standards, laws, and regulations; resolves accessibility issues during plan review Stay current with new development or changes in codes, standards, materials, and technology Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education/Qualifications: Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering or a related field Three years of increasingly responsible experience in plan review Certifications/Licenses: CASp Certification Required ICC Accessibility Certification Desired Certification as a Building Plans Examiner by ICC or Licensure as an Engineer by the State of California Desired The pay range for this California position is $60.00- $70.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
