Sr. Director, Recorded AdministrationYour primary mission is to ensure BMG’s artists receive world-class service from onboarding through the lifetime of their relationship with BMG. This includes the oversight for the timely processing and notification of BMG’s recorded music agreements, as well as all aspects of royalty reporting and payments. Additional responsibilities include data updates (contract, client, track, publisher, license, etc.), Information Service/rights research, and royalty analysis. You will interact and communicate with BMG’s clients to assist in providing the highest level of service and ensure queries are addressed fully and in a timely manner. You will collaborate with international colleagues from various departments to ensure our core value of “Service Delivered, Worldwide” is realized.What You’ll Be Doing:LeadershipLeading a team of 9+ employeesEstablishing strong relationships with BMG’s business leadersTraining and developing talent within your teamsEstablishing and reporting KPIs for each area of responsibilityCommunication and, when needed, escalation of client inquiries to US business leadsImprovement of workflows and processesActively working to remove roadblocks that are preventing team members from success in their tasksCollaboration with peers in other territories to ensure continuity of tasks and processesAct as an escalation point for staff. Must have a keen awareness of when to escalate furtherDeal ProcessingOversee the complete processing of BMG’s US music recorded agreements (e.g., new Recorded, Modification, Extension, and Option agreements as applicable). Including but not limited to:Setup of clients, rates and contract information in BMG’s internal databasesLiaising and following up with A&R Admin and Business Affairs as necessary on incomplete informationReview/verification of data entered by Artist Royalty ManagersFeedback on setup and notification of agreements to A&R, A&R Admin, Finance, and/or Business Affairs DeptData AnalysisOversee regular reviews of significant accounts to track performance versus expectationsProvide high quality insights based on analysis of royalty dataMeet regularly with stakeholders in the business to keep them apprised of financial performance of key dealsMechanical LicensingEnsure licenses are in place for all BMG releasesIncrease the number of blanket licenses in place between BMG and music publishersRoyalty Data Maintenance & CleanupInvestigate inquiries related to royalties raised by clients or internal staffHandle data updates and cleanupInitiate any required royalty adjustmentsMonitor suspense and calculation errors and ensure quick resolution and clearanceCustomer/Client/Business Partner RelationsAssist in maintaining and developing relationships with partners, including:CMOs (e.g., SoundExchange)Ensure senior management are aware of significant client inquiries and provide regular updates through resolutionMust-Haves:Advanced understanding of music royalties, publishing and copyright industry practicesAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Looker is a plusExperience with tracking and collaboration tools such as JIRA and ConfluenceStrong analytic and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify when information is incompleteStrong contract interpretation skills and experiencePrevious experience working with the relevant experience listed above is a must.Pay Range:$88,000 – 99,000 per annum. The pay range listed above is dependent upon factors such as work experience, qualifications and business needs. In addition to the range above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and applicable benefits.Are you interested?
