The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Lead is a key player in the commitment to our safe work culture.The EHS Lead is responsible for the execution and evaluation of critical processes, programs, and procedures relative to achieving plant goals and objectives related to the Environment, Occupational Health, Regulatory Law, Safety, and Security for the Concord site. This location is an important piece of the Owens Corning Composites business strategy. The individual in this role will also have the opportunity to gain experience in other functions to help accelerate career growth in EHS or other functions within the business.The position reports to the Plant Leader with dotted line reporting responsibilities to the Regional EH&S Leader. .JOB RESPONSIBILITIESLive the safety stand, model safety responsibilities, enhance the safety culture.Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Adhere to, and continuously improve upon, all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standardsCoordinate application, maintenance, compliance, and retention of facility regulatory permits and feesEnsure proper environmental, health, and safety training, awareness, and communications to all employeesProvide guidance, support, and change leadership for environmental / regulatory, health, and safety objectivesMaintain compliance to all local, state, federal and Owens Corning environmental standards and processesChampion the site environmental, regulatory, health, and safety management systemsAnalyze and design programs to advance the facility environmental, regulatory, health, and safety impactsEnsure all site data, and requests are submitted timely through our enterprise sustainability organizationDrive Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF) prevention activitiesPerform routine inspections related to all applicable aspects of environmental, health and safetyLead, coach, and solicit input from team members to drive successful execution of facility and team goals and enhanced team member engagement / job satisfactionIssue corrective action and implement performance improvement plans, as needed to address safety risksFacilitate / coordinate training, as neededDesign and communicate clear and measurable performance expectations, complete performance reviews, and execute growth, development, and engagement plansSupport in coordinating Industrial Hygiene surveysGuide incident investigations and implement appropriate corrective actionsAbility to take direction and influence others for action and alignment to realize business objectivesOther business-related tasks and responsibilities as assignedSafety MetricsRIR, First Aids, Near Misses, SAFE, Critical 6, Behavior Based Observations, HRCJOB REQUIREMENTSExperience:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, Reg Law, or related field is required2+ years of demonstrated experience in the EHS field; in manufacturing preferredCSP, CHMM, or related certification preferredKnowledge and Abilities:Strong leadership skillsAbility to multi-taskStrong creative thinking skillsAbility to initiate action and lead team activitiesExtensive knowledge of legal / regulatory requirements related to environment, health, and safety.Strong listening and comprehension skillsClear growth potential within the EHS function with willingness to support other locations with increasingly larger levels of responsibilityLeads by setting the example and by demonstrating confidence and optimism and identifies and clearly communicates the need for improvement and changeCompetent in data analytics for safety and environmental metrics, and a strategic thinker that can establish goals and actions needed to achieveEvaluates systematically, considers potential solutions against preset criteria, and generates potential solutions by applying consultative and creative methodologiesPersonal Characteristics:Passion for safety & peopleResults oriented team playerFlexible and balanced: seeks to understand the perspective of othersAbility to connect effectively with talent at multiple levels within the organizationMotivates and inspires othersStrong organizational skillsAdditional Preferred Training:Strong technical safety and environmental skills.
