LCS Mechanical Technician

Position Summary:Life Cycle Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Technician to perform preventative maintenance on U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class Ships based in San Diego, CA in accordance with the Navy’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS).

Clearance Required:Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance and be capable of obtaining base access.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance using the Navy Maintenance Requirement Card (MRC) to inspect, test, make adjustments, perform minor repairs, or replace defective components on shipboard equipment.Inspect and test mechanical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions through visual inspections and testing devices.Reassemble and test equipment after preventative maintenance.Identify and document system and/or equipment problems.Verify configuration data.Refer to drawings and manufacturers' specifications that relate to equipment undergoing maintenance.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:Ability to pass PQS 3M-301 Maintenance Person qualifications.Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy preventive maintenance system.Proficient in using general and special purpose electrical test equipment to perform organizational level maintenance.Knowledge of Tag-out User's Manual.Knowledge of Navy Safety and Occupational Health Program Manual for Forces Afloat.Knowledge of one or more of the following shipboard mechanical systems:Main Propulsion (Diesel Engines and Gas Turbine).Reduction Gear Dehumidifier and Vent Fog Electrostatic Precipitators.Transmission and Propulsion Systems.Propulsors, Waterjet - Hullborne.Circulating and Cooling Sea Water System.Diesel and Gas Turbine Fuel Service System.Generator Set, Ship Service Diesel Generator (LCS 5 Class AFS) Isotta-Fraschini.Main Propulsion Lube Oil System.Lube Oil Fill and Transfer System.Parasense Model 3300RM2 Refrigerant Leak Monitoring System.Valves and Valve Operators.Ventilation Systems (LCS-1 Class).Air Conditioning Systems, York, 111 Ton Air Conditioning Plant.Fire main and Flushing (Sea Water) System LCS-1.Drainage and Ballasting System.REVERSE OSMOSIS UNIT, VILLAGE MARINE MODEL LCS-1.Ship Fuel and Fuel Compensating System (LCS 1 Class).Aviation and General Purpose Fuels (LCS 1 CL).Sauer MP Air Compressor, Model WP-121L.Stabilizing Fins, Interceptor, MD-R-3247-01 (LCS-1 Class).Ship Stores Handling Equipment, Hatch and Lift Platform.Anchor Handling and Stowage, Anchor Windlass, Jered Model 21030.Vestdavit, Model TDE-2200.LRHS System and Tow Winch, Vestdavit TW-4150.6-Meter Rigid Inflatable Boat (6MRX) Freedom Class.Shipboard Helo Handler - Extra Low Profile (SHH-ELP).Cranes and Hoists, Lidan Container Mobilization Equipment.AMZ and RC1 Mission Package Payload Bridge Cranes.Stern Ramp, Stern Doors, Side Doors and HPU, Launch, Recovery, Handling, and Stowage (LRHS) System.Vacuum Collection and Holding Tank (VCHT) System LCS 1.Oil Pollution Control System - Oil Water Separator Type PPT-BWS MESB (LCS 1 CL).Solid and Industrial Waste Pollution Control System (LCS 1 Class).Galley Equipment.Damage Control Equipment.Fire stations on weather decks and interior to ship.CO2, Dry Chemical and AFFF portable fire extinguishers.Submersible pump.CO2 Fire Extinguishing System.Hepta Fluoro Propane (HFP) System.AFFF Fire Extinguishing System.Watertight/Airtight Doors, Hatches, and Scuttles.Candidate shall be proficient using general and special purpose Mechanical test equipment to perform organizational level maintenance.Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.High school diploma or equivalent.U.S. Navy technician skills and training.Five (5) years’ experience working on LCS Class mechanical systems.Experience with Tag Out User's Manual.

Physical Demands & Expectations:Regular physical activity to include (but are not limited to): climbing, crawling, fingering/typing, hearing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, talking, vision, and walking.Must be able to work overtime daily, and weekends as necessary.Ability to travel 10% of the time.Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
