University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, Full-time, EngineeringPosition OverviewThe Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas is seeking nominations and applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Aerospace Engineering faculty are engaged in numerous externally funded research programs, with support from Federal (NASA, NSF, ONR, AFRL, ARL, FAA), Industry (Lockheed, GE, Microsoft Research), and other sources. Applications are welcome in any area of collaboration with existing faculty, including but not limited to aerospace structures, unmanned aircraft systems, remote sensing, and advanced air mobility systems. The new hire will collaborate with faculty across disciplines to advance research and education.

Job Description40% - TeachingDevelop curriculum and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Aerospace Engineering. Mentor graduate students in research and serve as the major advisor and chair of master's and doctoral theses committees.

40% - Research/ScholarshipDevelop and direct a sustainable research program that includes directing students and establishing a strong externally funded research program.

20% - ServiceParticipate in University, School, and Departmental service activities, including fostering relationships with industry and the community.

Required QualificationsEarned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field by start date.Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in a university setting.Record of scholarship as evidenced by publications, awards, or patents.A promising vision for an externally funded research program.Application InstructionsEvaluation of qualifications will be made through a letter of application, record of accomplishments in research and teaching, a statement addressing your vision for a sustainable program of funded research, a statement addressing your teaching philosophy, and contact information for three professional references.
