The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, twelve months position. This position will serve a dual role of non-tenure track faculty (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and administrator (Director for Experiential Education). Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Director for Experiential Education reports to the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education and works collaboratively with the Office of Experiential Education team to create, coordinate and maintain an innovative experiential education curriculum for both Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) in accordance to the UMES School of Pharmacy mission and ACPE standards. The Director of Experiential Education is also a member of the pharmacy practice faculty with additional responsibilities including teaching, service, and research.

Responsibilities

Recruit and develop new clinical sites and preceptors; engage and expand existing sites and preceptors.

Create and coordinate the IPPE didactic and experiential courses.

Oversee and manage placement assignments of IPPE/APPE.

Develop and deliver preceptor training in collaboration with faculty and the Office of Experiential Education for new preceptors and existing preceptors.

Conduct site visits for quality assurance of sites, preceptors, and student experiences.

Cooperate and coordinate with others in team-taught courses.

Actively participate in research and scholarship.

Serve on School and University committees, participate in academic governance, and contribute to the accreditation process.

Cultivate strong relationships and create and maintain a visible presence between the School of Pharmacy and state/national communities (e.g. APhA, AACP, ASHP, ACCP, MSHP, MPhA, etc.), including meetings and presentations.

Support daily operations of the experiential program that require coordination of experiential staff, students, preceptors, faculty, and other key stakeholders.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Three years of experience in pharmacy practice.

Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience in pharmacy academia and/or precepting student pharmacists is highly desirable.

Must have effective written communication skills which reflect positively on the professional program.

Preferred QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent verbal communication.

Skills in group presentations and continuing education, as well as for individual one-on-one training/development of preceptors and student pharmacists.

Precise attention to detail for accurate database management, documentation, and timely follow-up.

Skills in team-based collaboration to achieve goals of the Experiential Education Division.

Certifications/RegistrationsMust be eligible for licensure in the state of Maryland.
