Position Title : Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor/Director of the Physician Assistant Program

Position Information : The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director. This full-time, 12-month faculty position will provide leadership and vision for the PA program, ensuring its continued growth, accreditation, and success in producing competent healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service, and will play a key role in advancing the mission of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. The Program Director reports directly to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.

Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership and administration of the PA program, including strategic planning, curriculum development, and program evaluation.

Ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards and maintain the program’s accreditation status.

Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and professional development of faculty and staff within the program.

Manage the program’s budget and resources effectively, including planning for daily and long-range program needs.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes interprofessional education and practice.

Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities consistent with the mission of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.

Develop and maintain relationships with clinical sites, preceptors, and community partners.

Represent the PA program within the university and to external stakeholders.

Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field.

Current NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant.

Eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Maryland.

Minimum of five years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.

At least three years of experience in PA education, including teaching, administration, and curriculum development.

Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with ARC-PA accreditation processes.
