With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families of our city. Compensation:

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $19.46 to $22.87 and may commensurate with experience.

Lead Cook

to join the team most recently recognized for serving 900 meals every day! The

Lead Cook

is one of the most important positions at SOME, Inc. because serving meals is at the heart of our organization.

Position Description:

The

Lead Cook

is responsible for preparing daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, and meals designated for delivery to various programs. This role also involves maintaining kitchen operations, overseeing food inventory, and ensuring that all meals are prepared in a timely, efficient, and sanitary manner. The

Lead Cook

plays a key role in ensuring that all kitchen activities run smoothly and that high standards of food quality and safety are consistently met.

Required:

HS Diploma or GED; 1-3 yrs. food service or restaurant experience

Preferred:

Culinary Arts Degree; 3+ yrs. institutional food service or restaurant experience; Driver's License

Required License/Certifications:

Food Handler's License by the District of Columbia Department of Health

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm (40 hours per week)

Kitchen Operations Management:

Develop daily menu and plan breakfast and lunch with selections that are balanced and nutritious.File invoices from deliveriesLabel meals for serving and deliveryCommunicate with Floor Manager to determine attendance and meals requiredEnsure meals are ready each day for delivery to programsPlan and organize meals for Central Kitchen to provide meals that meet nutrition requirements for children and the agingTrack and plan food budgetPlan economical use of resources and meal portion size
