The Tulane Recovery Community (TRC) Resident Director holds a crucial role as a professional staff member residing on-site, responsible for the overall operation of the TRC House. This position is a collaborative venture between The Dean of Students Office and the Office of Housing and Residential Life. The responsibilities include overseeing and managing the TRC House, specifically designed for students self-identifying as being in "Recovery" from a substance use disorder or problematic relationship with substances. The primary responsibilities include initiating, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating efforts within the TRC House that result in educational, social, and cultural growth for both individual students in recovery and the entire living community. The TRC Resident Director fulfills six primary areas of focus: Recovery Community Support, Administrative Duties, Crisis Response and Student Support, Community Development, Student Development, and Departmental Responsibilities. Additionally, this role acts as a catalyst for student engagement within the TRC House, exemplifying an active recovery practice as a positive role model.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIn-depth understanding of substance use disorders and recovery principles to effectively support students in recovery.Ability to demonstrate commitment to personal and departmental development, professionalism, intercultural education, creativity, collaboration, and initiative.Ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds towards the goal of an inclusive, supportive educational environment.Strong administrative and communication skills.Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.Required Education and/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution by the date of hire.Minimum of 18 months experience in addiction/recovery peer support.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in relevant field such as Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline. Addiction Recovery credential.Previous experience in residence life or recovery housing management, specifically in a collegiate setting.Personal or professional experience in the field of recovery from substance use disorders, providing a deeper understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by students in recovery.Experience in crisis management and the ability to effectively manage emergencies within a residential recovery community.Familiarity with collegiate recovery programs.Compensation InformationThis position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 22.
