Job Summary:

Greets and assists visitors in person or over the telephone. Provides general office support for the Department of Anthropology. Assists in cataloging Archaeological Center reference collections.

Responsibilities:

Receives, greets, and directs visitors to appropriate person or office.

Answers telephones, providing assistance and directing customers to the correct person or office.

Processes and distributes mail.

Answers questions about the organization and associated activities.

Assists with word processing, data entry, and internet searches.

Maintains office equipment; arranges for service calls as needed.

Assists in organizing reference collections as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current University of Utah student with at least 1 semester completed (Fall or Spring) required for the intended semester of serving as a peer mentor.

Essential personal attributes for this role include familiarity with campus resources, active involvement on campus, maturity, approachability, dependability, flexibility, and strong communication skills.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to model appropriate behavior, maintain confidentiality, and mentor students effectively.

Enthusiasm for the university, its student body, faculty, staff, and both academic and co-curricular aspects of university life is essential.

This position may require the successful completion of a criminal background check and/or drug screen.

Anthropology majors preferred.
