Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chief Inspector to lead and oversee all inspection activities for a complex pump installation and electrical rework project at our facility. The Chief Inspector will ensure overall quality control, safety compliance, and timely completion of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all inspection activities related to the installation of:
One Raw water injection pump with outdoor medium voltage VFD
One Brine water injection pump
One Shore Mounted Pump System
Electrical rework of two existing Raw water injection pumps
Develop and implement inspection plans and quality control procedures for all aspects of the project, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil works.
Lead a team of specialized inspectors, including I&E Inspectors, and coordinate their activities.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, safety regulations, and local codes.
Review and approve all inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans.
Liaise with project management, contractors, vendors, and client representatives to resolve technical issues and ensure project quality.
Conduct regular site walks to maintain a comprehensive understanding of project progress and identify potential issues.
Oversee the inspection of critical activities such as:
Installation of piping, electrical components, skids, and foundations
Anchor bolt and grouting installations
VFD installations and electrical rework
Instrumentation and control system installations
Manage the documentation process, ensuring all inspection records are properly maintained and easily accessible.
Provide regular reports to project management on inspection activities, quality issues, and project status.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in inspection roles, with at least 5 years as a Chief Inspector or similar leadership role
Strong background in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems in industrial settings
In-depth knowledge of pump systems, VFDs, and associated infrastructure
Proven experience managing complex projects in the oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries
Excellent understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, IEEE, NEC)
Strong leadership and team management skills
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Relevant certifications such as API, NACE, or AWS
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor)
Capable of climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces when necessary
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Additional Information
This is a key leadership position for the duration of the project. The successful candidate must be available for the entire project period and be willing to work flexible hours as needed to meet project milestones. The Chief Inspector will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety and quality throughout the project.
