Job Description
Core Responsibilities – Upstream Microbial Process Development Engineer, Cell Culture & Fermentation Sciences
Operate lab scale stainless steel bioreactors and ensure smooth fermentation processes via DeltaV and DCU automation systems for efficient bioreactor control
Operate Ambr250 and ensure smooth fermentation processes
Equipment troubleshooting
Write and develop SOPs
Support scale down projects of bioreactors for microbial cultures
Support large molecule drug substance process development
BSL-1 and BSL-2 level environment
Use of biochemical analyzers (YSI, OD, pH, off-gas mass spec, RAMAN spectroscopy)
Use of Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)
Manage chemicals, supplies, inventory, and ensure safety regulation compliance
Statistical data analysis and results/conclusion presentation
cGMPs
Late night and weekend work may be needed during fermentation runs
1-2 times/month if team is busy with runs
Schedule on volunteer basis (first come first served)
Qualifications:
The Ideal Candidate would possess:
B.S. OR M.S. in a scientific or engineering discipline that incorporates biology and chemistry curricula
Prior experience with Microbial cell culture/Fermentation, pressurized systems
Prior experience with good aseptic technique
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Prior experience with data science software and statistical analysis is a plus, e.g., JMP, Spotfire, PI Process Book
Additional Information:
Position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with overtime and weekends as needed. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to West Point, PA are encouraged to apply.
