The Arboretum's 115 acres host a rich and diverse collection of plants.JOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Sustainability, the Executive Director provides leadership for the Arboretum & Botanic Garden at UC Santa Cruz. Responsibilities include managing staff, budgets, philanthropic and capital development, collections, grounds, educational programs, and retail operations.JOB DUTIES50% - Arboretum LeadershipProvide leadership, guidance, and oversight of the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum.Develop and implement strategies to ensure the prominence of the Arboretum.Lead fundraising for the Arboretum, including donor cultivation.20% - ManagementManage staff and responsible for performance management of staff members.20% - Collections Management and CareOversee operations of the gardens in accordance with best industry practices.10% - Education, Interpretation and OutreachDevelop and participate in educational programming.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.Experience in horticultural activities and fundraising.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. in a related discipline.SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.SAFETY STATEMENTAll UCSC employees must understand and follow job safety procedures.APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO USE THE UCSC ON-LINE PROCESSView full job description and access on-line application:
