The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University invites dynamic and innovative educators to apply for full-time, career line faculty positions within our new common first-year engineering program. These positions are designed to empower students from all engineering disciplines as they embark on their academic journey. Faculty hired through this search will have an affiliated appointment in one of our traditional engineering departments (Mechanical, Electrical and Computer, Chemical and Biological, Biomedical, or Civil and Environmental Engineering), but will primarily teach foundational courses in the first-year curriculum, including courses in engineering fundamentals and engineering for grand challenges.Instructors in the common experience program will play a critical role in shaping the academic experience for first-year students, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring their early success in engineering. The ideal candidates will bring enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching, a passion for innovation in engineering education, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. While the primary responsibility will be teaching in the common first-year program, there will be opportunities to teach other courses in their area of expertise within the affiliated department.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly launched, forward-thinking program that prepares students to tackle real-world challenges. Join us in creating an innovative and student-centered approach to engineering education that ensures the success of the next generation of engineers.Required Job Qualifications:Instructor:MS in an engineering discipline or other relevant field.A commitment to supporting students with historically marginalized identities through culturally responsive pedagogy, mentorship, and advising.Associate Professor:PhD in an engineering discipline.5+ years of teaching experience in an academic setting.Demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.Full Professor:PhD in an engineering discipline.Proven track record of excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship in an academic setting.Demonstrated history of leadership in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational environments.Significant contributions to research or teaching in their field with a national or international reputation for scholarly work.Preferred Job Qualifications:Experience developing curriculum with socially/culturally relevant topics (real world applications to engineering), universal design for learning, and experience designing inclusive syllabi.Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate students and their success through mentoring, engagement with high-impact practices (e.g., undergraduate research, learning communities), and/or involvement with student groups.Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with historically marginalized identities.Evidence of culturally responsive pedagogy, mentorship and advising including tailored support for marginalized students, commitment for universal design for learning, active allyship and advocacy, and/or commitment to personal/professional growth.Conditions of Employment:
