All positions at the public education department are based in Santa Fe, however some may operate through our Albuquerque office based on home address and space availability.

Why does the job exist?

The Education Administrator - Advanced (Professional Development) position in the Public Education Department's, Special Education Bureau conducts compliance monitoring as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B (IDEA-B) and State special education rules and regulations. In addition, this position specializes in the data analysis of IDEA Part B data.

How does it get done?

Conduct compliance monitoring and enforcement by examining local education agency (LEA) data submissionsComplete data analysis of data.Verify and validate LEA data submitted each state reporting periods.Initiate and monitor general supervision corrective actionProcess and approve annual sub-recipient grant awardsAssist Fiscal with the program portion of request for re-reimbursementsAssist Fiscal with the program portion of budget adjustment requests.

Who are the customers?

Students with disabilities are the principal customers. Other stakeholders are local education agencies, internal customers up to and including the New Mexico Public Education Department's Secretary of Education.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Education Administrator - Advanced (A) (Data Analyst) position will have program monitoring and data analysis experience or direct experience in this occupation.Preferences:1. Experience analyzing data2. Experience examining conducting data reviews associated compliance monitoring and/or data validation3. Proficient using Microsoft Office products4. Proficient using Operating Budget Management System (OBMS)5. Proficient using Student Teacher Accountability Reporting System (STARS)6. Strong communicator (oral and written).

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
