Job Summary

The County Clerk Office is seeking a diligent Network Infrastructure Support Specialist to oversee the seamless functioning of software and hardware systems across various divisions. This position will report directly to the Director of Network & Infrastructure Administrator, the successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in managing customized software applications within the Clerk's Office, ensuring efficient deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance as required. This role also involves diligent oversight of inventory, along with the preparation and troubleshooting of IT equipment, such as laptops, desktops, and printers. The Network Infrastructure Support Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that all users and devices adhere to County Clerk Security policies. Additionally, the Support Specialist will supervise and provide support for projects within various County Clerk's Office Divisions, including activities such as e-pollbook pre-LAT initiatives fo the Elections Division.

Essential Job DutiesPrioritize and address assigned trouble tickets (ClerkIT) promptly and effectively.Identify and resolve system and network issues through comprehensive troubleshooting.Conduct installations of specialized agency software (e.g., MS Great Plains, OnBase, Dominion D-Suite, IPTS, VRXG, ePulse-ePollbook from KnowInk) and enterprise software (e.g., O365, Adobe, Oracle) with precision.Conduct timely troubleshooting, repair, or replacement of faulty hardware.Manage comprehensive inventory, mapping, and tracking of equipment from purchase to salvage.Implement and update anti-virus and malware software, while actively monitoring for potential security breaches.Ensure strict adherence to security policies and protocols within the County Clerk Office.Conduct consistent maintenance and oversight of the Active Directory framework, encompassing the management of user and group accounts, as well as group policies, among other tasksPerform and verify updates of vulnerability patches identified by Microsoft and the County Information Security Office.Compile and deliver weekly reports to the Director or Deputy, providing detailed insights into ongoing activities and concerns.Provide crucial support during Election Day activities, including the deployment of specialized tools and participation in election-related projects. Travel to and from the Elections Operations Center or other locations throughout the County. Participation in election preparation procedures including, but not limited to Pre-LAT, e-pollbook preparation, or other equipment, process or procedural tasks.Undertake necessary travel to all Clerk sites, including Courthouses and the Elections Operations Center (EOC), ensuring consistent support and oversight across various locations.Additional job functions may include coordinating with external vendors for IT equipment servicing, collaborating with software developers to customize applications, and providing training and guidance to staff on the usage of software and hardware systems.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

At least three (3) years of hands-on experience working with Windows 10 or 11 in a high availability network and system architecture setting.Three (3) years of practical experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) or Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems such as EMC, Clarion, or VNX,Three (3) years of work experience with leading anti-virus packages such as McAfee, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Norton, Webroot, or other recognized solutions within the industry.An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field, or three (3) years full-time work experience in a Network Support position or comparable IT role.

Preferred Technical Skills & Qualifications

At least five (5) years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Windows, including 10 or 11.Proficiency in working with current and earlier versions of Microsoft Office, particularly O365.Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and its functionalities.Knowledge of Group Policy functionality and its implementation via Active DirectoryA solid grasp of anti-virus and malware software, along with preventative measures.Basic knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN

Physical Requirements

Sitting for long periods of time.Use of fingers/hands/arms throughout the shift.Occasionally and independently setting up computer terminals or monitors.Ability to travel to various office location.Valid Illinois Driver's LicenseAbility to lift approximately 20 lbs.
